The Employment and Financial Services (EFS) Division is responsible for policy development and delivery of employment and income services including contracted employment services, career resources, and the Income Support (IS) and Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) programs.

As a member of the Support & Financial Services Coordinator (SFSC) unit, you will share responsibility for determining ongoing eligibility for the Income Support program. This includes assisting Albertans towards realizing their action plan goals, through the provision of support services, and the issuance of financial benefits.



An SFSC most frequently interacts with clients by telephone, reviews documents, reviews files and reports, and utilizes several computer applications and systems simultaneously. The SFSC monitors and supports the Albertans' service plan by ensuring the Albertan is committed and accountable for progress towards their self¬ sufficiency. Responsibilities involve assessing and meeting client needs on a regular basis or referring/recommending appropriate interventions including: advising clients of their rights; income support benefit entitlements and their responsibilities; providing referrals and support to help benefit recipients access employment and training services; and labour market information and community resources. You will work in collaboration with a team of professionals providing service to Albertans. This position also involves the ability to work with Albertans in distress, and utilize problem-solving techniques to connect individuals with appropriate intervention resources.

Qualifications

Two-year diploma or degree in Social Science, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Humanities ,or in a related field; no experience required; or equivalency for directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

  • Preference will be the given to the candidate with at least one (1) year of experience with direct customer service with diverse or vulnerable groups (it may include individuals with social barriers, mental health issues and a variety of challenging circumstances.)
  • Demonstrated skill in assessment, critical thinking, conflict resolution, experience in determining eligibility for a program or benefit
  • Proficiency with keyboarding and computer systems (Microsoft Office) is required.
  • Experience with web based computer systems Mobius, Client Center Directory (CCD) / Local Income Security Application (LISA) is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Income and Employment Support Act.

Salary

$2,106.93 to $2,738.86 bi-weekly. ($54,991 - $71,484 / year)

Notes

  • This competition is on-going until suitable candidate is found and can also be used for multiple full-time and/or part-time Permanent and Temporary positions located in any of the following worksites in South Zone: Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat
  • You must be willing to live in or relocate to work in one of the offices listed.
- Hours of work: 36.25 hours/week, Monday to Friday 8:15 am - 4:30 pm, work week.
