Support Worker Job at Prairie Harm Reduction
Prairie Harm Reduction is seeking multiple casual staff to fill day, evening, and overnight positions on weekdays and weekends
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support for people living with or at-risk of HIV and HCV, people experiencing homelessness, people who use substances, and people with chronic mental health issues.
- Support in potentially high-risk situations
- Support clients who access Safe Consumption Site & Drop-In Centre
- Assist in the Drop-in Centre
- Provide Naloxone Training
- Conduct self in a professional non-judgemental manner
- Maintain confidentiality
- Maintain documentation and ensure appointments are followed through with
- Maintain up to date knowledge in Social Services, Justice, Health policy and systems.
PREFERRED SKILLS & EDUCATION:
- Must provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Check
- Combined work and/or life experience
- Post-secondary education such as addictions certificate, bachelor in sociology, or education in related human services field
- Comfort working with target populations
- Ability to build trusting relationships with people who access services
- Knowledge of substance use and its impact
- Knowledge of community services and agencies in Saskatoon
- Good oral and written communication skills
- CPR First Aid Level C (within first three months of work)
Job Type: Casual
Salary: $23.00 per hour
