Langley Meadows Community Association (LMCA) is accepting applications for two Summer Day Camp Leaders. We are a licensed School Age Group Child Care facility; all staff members work together to provide excellent supervision and programs for children, while maintaining a safe and fun environment. These positions are being offered with funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Working under the mentorship of the licensed program staff, the Summer Day Camp Leaders will help to organize, conduct and monitor activity programs designed for 5-11 year old children, such as indoor and outdoor games, sports, crafts, field trips, and service projects, assist in maintaining records of attendance, and assist in housekeeping and cleaning duties.

TERM: Start June 29th, 8-9 weeks (280 hours)

HOURS OF WORK: 30-35 hours per week

WORK LOCATION: Langley Meadows Community School

COMPENSATION: $21.00/hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be between the ages of 16 and 30
• Interest in teaching, human services, social work or other civic duty
• Willing to work both inside and outside in a busy and active setting
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable with daily interaction and communication with children, other staff members, school employees and parents
• Emergency First Aid (or willing to complete)
• Ability to perform tasks involving moderate physical activity in working with children, including walking, running, standing, bending, kneeling, and moderate lifting
• Criminal Record check (submitted upon hiring)
• 3 character references (may be a combination of previous employer, teacher, neighbour, etc.)
