Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to an authentic learning environment that values a strong relationship between students and faculty, places community priorities first, and commits to having students experience the outdoors every day
  • Prepare and deliver engaging, innovative and student-centered learning activities and assessments as outlined in the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum
  • Meaningfully integrate digital skills and technology into curriculum and assessment to enhance student learning (laptop and other technology resources provided)
  • Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress
  • Participate in school life, co-curricular activities, student residential/boarding program, relevant meetings and PD opportunities
  • A passion for and experience in varsity sports and arts activities including hockey, basketball, sailing, musical theatre, dance, or Nordic skiing is an asset

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Education, OCT,
  • Degree specializing in Geography, History, or Sustainability preferred
  • Our Social Science classes are often taught within a Harkness environment – experience in this area would be considered an asset
  • An ability to model excellent written and spoken communication
  • A demonstrated passion for working with teenagers
  • Minimum of two years of recent, pertinent teaching experience is an asset
  • Ability to relate well with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the ideals of the School’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Directions
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, creativity, communication planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to engage students, assisting them with tasks and helping them succeed
  • Demonstrated proficiency in use and integration of information technology
