The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts is a unique operation within the Town of Oakville, requiring an experienced person to provide technical support. The position reports to the Supervisor, Technical Services. This includes the installation, operation and maintenance of lighting, audio, video, carpentry and rigging equipment and systems. The successful candidate will be scheduled part time hours on an as needed basis.

Job Responsibilities:

To provide technical support for live events at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and other locations.
Specific Duties include:

• Setting up and operating lighting, audio, video systems for events at the Oakville Centre
• Loading and unloading of trucks
• Assembly and setup of staging systems
• General cleaning and maintenance on technical equipment and facilities.
• Creating effective lighting for events
• Hanging, cabling, and focusing theatrical lighting
• Operation of follow spotlights
• Operation of Grand MA lighting consoles
• Operation of Digico SD12 & Soundcraft Si Performer series audio consoles
• Operation of a scissor lift (Ariel work platforms operators certificate required)
• Operation of a single purchase counterweight fly system
• Painting of the stage floor and other equipment
• Some basic building maintenance as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The successful candidate shall have experience working in the production of live events. Experience working in a theatrical roadhouse environment is an asset.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:

• A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• The ability to work under pressure to strict time lines

Knowledge and experience with several of the following systems is required:

• Computerized lighting control systems (Grand MA), automated lighting fixtures, LED lighting instruments and stage effects
• Theatrical lighting including the hanging and focusing of conventional lighting fixtures
• Theatrical audio systems including analogue consoles, digital consoles and wireless microphone & monitor systems in live performance settings
• Qlab audio/video playback software
• Counterweight fly systems
• Stage carpentry including the assembly and installation of scenery
• Valid certification for the operation of an electric scissor lift and fall arrest training are an asset.
