Lead a team of development and integration specialists in the analysis, design, development and implementation of new or enhanced end-to-end solutions as well as provide solution recommendations and work effort estimation for project development deliverables in a multi-platform environment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the design, development and delivery of technology-enabled applications, products and high quality services that adhere to quality management and development standards. This includes:
    • Providing detailed solutions to business/technical issues and ensure that design specifications meet architecture and requirements specifications and that development schedules are also met;
    • Providing solution recommendations that have potential business/process automation impact and organization/financial impact;
    • Mentoring and coaching to team members in the areas of Development, Integration and Middleware;
    • Providing leadership and coordination to internal and external business contacts as the key contact for the outsourced development team.
    • Researching development and integration best practices and introduce innovative and creative solutions.
  • Interact with the business, vendors and ITC technical teams by:
    • Defining and maintaining web/development/integration/middleware standards and guidelines that meet industry best practices;
    • Providing feedback to architecture or high-level solution designs, project plans, requirements, testing and change/implementation review and walkthroughs.
    • Integrating system solutions to handle confidential data/information and transfers between WSIB and service providers;
    • Coordinating system installations and software testing;
    • Conducting and leading technical and detailed design walkthroughs and code reviews;
    • Functioning in a support capacity to provide isolation and resolution of software issues by leading root cause analysis, providing recommendations and communicating options for resolution of software issues.
  • Collaborate with project or support teams and coordinate all development and system integration testing activities by:
    • Defining and developing logical data models and processing models based on business requirements in order to meet the needs of the organization's information requirements and helping to determine data requirements, normalization, structure and distribution.
    • Participating in defects meetings;
    • Triaging and assigning development related issues/defects;
    • Supporting all testing, creating code drop release notes and overseeing the implementation of all development components.
    • Providing timely reporting on work progress status to the project manager, team lead and/or manager.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of RFI, RFP and Statement of Work (SoW) processes to achieve best selections of products and services.
  • Lead a small team of development resources throughout the Development Life Cycle in the design, development and implementation of small size projects. Follow the software development methodology (agile) and standards and actively participate in required meetings (Branch/Team meetings, KanBan standup or daily scrum).
  • Provide 24/7 support for applications, integration components including middleware adapters/wrappers and interfaces to achieve operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements

Education

  • University completion at undergraduate level with a specialty focus in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Experience

  • Total of nine years experience. Seven years prior experience in software development lifecycle using various programming languages, code repositories/build procedures/defect tracking systems, integration and middleware technologies and database management systems/servers. Two years experience on the job to reach full working level.
