#NowBrewing - senior inclusion and diversity specialist

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and its rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing and supporting partners who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

Inclusion and Diversity are at the core of what we do at Starbucks Canada. We are proud to have a diverse team of partners, an Inclusion Council and now 8 Partner Networks – all of which play a role in breaking down biases and barriers to enhance the diversity of our environment. We want to be an organization where every partner has a sense of belonging, can be themselves, and can thrive personally and professionally. Like many organizations, we still have room to grow to achieve these objectives.

This role will contribute to shaping and leading the implementation of inclusion and diversity programs while creating an ambitious plan and delivering on initiatives that are aligned with Starbucks strategy & vision.

The scope of this role is to contribute to the creation and fostering of an inclusive culture, where all levels of the organization are aware of and engaged with the mission, purpose and activities of the inclusion and diversity agenda. With a key focus on strategy integration, this role will support the development of long-term inclusion & diversity strategies and implement practical initiatives in support of: leadership accountability, optimizing diverse talent, connecting partners, communication and enhancement and support of the company’s brand. Ultimately making Starbucks an even more diverse and inclusive place to work.

As a sr. specialist, Inclusion & Diversity, you will:

  • Act as a champion of I&D across Starbucks Canada by celebrating diversity, introducing best practices, coordinating passionate advocates, and running education programs.
  • Work across various functions and internal network groups, enabling inclusive practices and engaging partners and leaders in the wider inclusion agenda and priority I&D programs.
  • Plan, develop and deliver initiatives, programs and projects that support our I&D strategy across the enterprise.
  • Reach out and build networks with external experts and practitioners in order to provide the organization with best-practice initiatives while determining how to apply them to Starbucks in practical ways.
  • Challenge and recommend appropriate changes to Starbucks Canada I&D strategies and plans, based on data, best practices and priority-setting to deliver the objectives.
  • Co-ordinate our Partner Network Group activations and our partner engagement activities, ensuring we share best practices and create scale between these activities to get the top priorities done faster and better than by acting alone. This will include accountability to guide and advise Partner Networks for the successful delivery of their plan and budget.
  • Participate to collect internal and external data to support both strategic and operational thinking, using it to identify areas of focus, build the right programs and monitor progress.
  • In consultation with the business and the Inclusion Council, establish appropriate metrics and measure performance, developing and utilizing a dashboard to drive progress, recognition and campaign messaging.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting and insight to a wide business audience.
  • Partner with various functions to coordinate diversity-related events and activities.
  • Respond to external inquiries about Starbucks Inclusion & Diversity programs and initiatives.
