Senior Field Technician

As a sales distributor and service supplier of industrial mechanical equipment to the forestry, mining, pulp and paper, and oil and gas industries, we’re an authorized distributor of leading brands from the US and overseas. Through our highly skilled sales and service staff and field technicians, we take a long-term interest in customer support with timely repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance of the products we represent. Our operations are well-established in three locations: Red Deer, Alberta, Delta, BC (head office), and Prince George BC.

Our team is expanding and we’re currently recruiting for an Senior Field Technician, ideally based in/near Edmonton, to join our Alberta service team. This field position requires typically two to three weeks per month of out-of-town travel and typically carries overtime hours which may extend into the weekend. The work schedule offers the flexibility of an averaging agreement that includes a 4-day work week, 10 hours per day, except for on-call weeks.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Alberta Service Manager, you will be accountable for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding operation critical equipment, including off-highway equipment (railcar movers) and industrial Power Transmission Products. To do this you will:

· Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment in the field, upon receipt of dispatch directions and information.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment deficiencies in the field.

· Perform basic and in-depth repairs in the field at customers’ site.

· Conduct repairs and overhaul equipment and mechanical products in our Red Deer Shop

· Utilize company resources such as diagnostic software, service trucks, cranes, in a safe and proficient manner.

· Share on-call rotations with other technicians.

· Show patience and a positive attitude; there are times when there are long jobs, days, or weeks that can test one’s patience; putting the customer first is essential.

About You:

Ideally you bring:

· Minimum three years experience working as a Red Seal ticketed HD technician, with customer facing work experience

· A Class 5 Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract; demonstrated experience driving a service truck.

· You have proven your ability to keep an organized and tidy work space/service truck.

· Through voice, email, and instant messages, you communicate clearly and professionally to customers and internal staff.

· Effective use of IT tools, such as: apps, forms, diagnostic software, and business software (email).
