We are seeking a Senior Certification Engineer.

The Senior Certification Engineer will fulfill critical roles in the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Team. The position will report to the Engineering Manager Certification and will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute the CSC Certification Program, develop the CSC Certification Plan, and Tailoring Document, and support other transversal areas such as Safety, Security, Survivability, Human Factors, Software and the Capability Teams as required.

Qualifications:

  • Academically qualified in an Engineering discipline with a recognized university bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Registered P.Eng designation required, or the ability to attain one through Engineers Nova Scotia
  • 4 Years or more experience in Systems Engineering in large and complex Defence acquisition projects involving coordination between multiple organizations
  • 10 Years or more experience as an Engineer on defence projects
  • Ability to practically apply standards and legislative requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all work in accordance with the Certification Plan & Certification Framework
  • Execute and coordinate the Certification and Classification Program in accordance with the Certification Plan, Regulatory and Statutory requirements, and Department of National Defence Policy
  • Support transversal areas such as Safety, Security, Software, Human Factors in accordance with the relevant Management Plan
  • Provide technical expertise in support of the development, documentation, and evaluation of deliverables related to Certification
  • Provide support in evaluating Engineering Changes, Change Request and Requests for Deviation/Waiver to ensure that impacts, risks, and issues related to design, integration, test, and acceptance activities are identified, communicated and recorded
  • Develop the certification assurance for their technical area, in accordance with the Certification Plan
