Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will have a good understanding of hand and spotting signals. In this position you will be required to stand for long periods of time and be exposed to the different weather elements. You must be a team player and function safely around heavy equipment. General safe working habits are a must. Heavy lifting is required. You may be required to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays so your own transportation is an asset. During the COVID 19 pandemic, the Company has implemented several policies, procedures and protocols to ensure the continued health and safety of all our employees, customers and family members. All Miller Waste Systems employees must to comply with any mandatory vaccine policies, practices, procedures imposed by the company or the company’s customers. *You will be required to work in multiple locations in Durham, extended hours, including weekends and holidays so your own transportation is an asset.

What You’ll Do:
In the position of Rover Facility Operator, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• You will be responsible to operate the front-end loader & compactor
• Work cooperatively with other machine operators
• Proper pre-trip inspections and maintenance of equipment is required.
• Use of sweeping and snowplow attachment will be required for overall property maintenance and upkeep.
• Your main area of responsibility will be the tip floor where you will be required to load open top trailers but will still need to provide assistance in all other loader / loading responsibilities.
• Operate a compactor, Loading trailers for landfill
• Complete understanding of the required Hand Signals for spotting vehicles;
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is worn
• General housekeeping duties, yard clean up, Punctual with good attendance
• Ensure you aware of and always work within MWS’s safety guidelines Assisting customers with directions, questions, and unloading of material
• Preform and document inspections and maintenance on the machinery prior to the facility opening for the day.
• Assist other positions as required
• Comply with ISO procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and all Health and Safety Regulations and Policies
• Inspecting the workplace for hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions
• You will be required to fill in for any vacations or sick calls, while providing continuous supervision in all other called upon responsibilities
• Ensure that all work is performed safely, cost effectively and in a timely manner
• Ensure that the entire outside grounds and the facility inside are clean and organized at all times
• Other duties as assigned
