Are you a customer focused finance professional able to analyze details and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders? The Finance Department at IIROC is looking for an effective team player with a knack for building strong relationships, problem solving, managing their time to efficiently meet deliverables, and a positive attitude to work collaboratively in a dynamic and high-performing team environment.
This position reports to the Manager, Finance Operations and is primarily responsible for oversight of cost recovery based revenue models driving invoicing and collections of amounts due to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Calculations & Analysis

  • Lead the calculation of annual Member Dues revenue for Dealer Members as per approved fee guidelines using various systems (Adaptive Insights/Microsoft Navision) and databases National Registration Database (NRD). Member Information Risk Assessment (MIRA), and Securities Industry Financial Filings System (SIRFF).
  • Manage the annual membership dues analysis process including coordination with various departments and stakeholders for input, reviews, and quarterly invoicing in a timely manner.
  • Process monthly billing calculations and analysis for Fee all Models (Market Equity/Debt (IP) in Adaptive Insights system, import to ERP Microsoft Navision, generate invoices for review and distribution. Support communications with internal and external stakeholders to enhance understanding and clarity of the Timely Disclosure billing process.
  • Assist with the preparation of revenue budgets and forecasts, including analysis to support the annual budget fee memo to the Board of Directors.
  • Provide quarterly analysis and reconciliation of Fines Revenue and collections. Maintain payment schedules, and report on fines received/outstanding.
  • Assist in the month-end close process, including commentary on reported revenue variances and reconciliation of all revenue-related Balance Sheet accounts.

Continuous Improvement

  • Work with IT to ensure effective use of ERP systems to support accurate and efficient revenue related processes. Challenge current workflows to evaluate opportunities for automation.
  • Identify system issues and work with IT for fixing / solutioning to ensure quality and accurate billing process
  • Ensure an effective and well-documented internal control environment for revenue, billing and collection processes addressing confidentiality of data, accuracy, completeness, and validity of financial records and effectiveness of processes.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives as required.

Operations

  • Timely and accurate processing of invoices including: UMIR Market regulation fees, debt market fees, debt IP fees, Supplementary billing, Enforcement fines, continuing education, delayed MFR filing, annual conference sponsorship fees and quarterly Ombudsman for Banking Services & Investments (OBSI) invoices.
  • Maintain and align the customer database between Microsoft Dynamics NAV (enterprise resource planning system) and Adaptive Insights (corporate performance management system). Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all customer master records,
  • Prepare monthly pre-authorized debits (PAD) and CDS lists for direct deposit of payments.
  • Oversee the collections process and management of the Aged Accounts Receivables as well reporting, and remittance of all Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF) assessments due from member firms.
  • Provide back-up support for bank deposits and recording of cash receipts.
  • Support internal and external audit work as required.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • Relevant university degree or college diploma
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in accounting and the ability to offer assistance on accounting functions
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing job demands and fee models
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills (use of macros, pivot tables, lookup, merging, graphs, etc.) to maintain complicated spreadsheets
  • Proven problem solving and strong analytical skills to investigate and reconcile for accuracy and reasonableness with the interest and enthusiasm for improving business processes
  • Prior experience in using accounting software
  • Excellent communication and interactive skills
  • Ability to stay focused on tasks with little supervision
  • Knowledge of securities industry would be an asset
