Research Assistant – Summer Student Job at CPAC Institute

CPAC Institute is hiring two (2) summer students to assist in a public policy research project.

Education:

  • In-progress or completed graduate degree in public policy, sociology, economics, public health, and other social science fields.

Experience:

  • Previous exposure to research is required.
  • Experience with conducting interviews is an asset.
  • Communication-related work experience is a plus.

  • Understanding of qualitative research methods
  • Strong outreach and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, conceptualization and report writing abilities
  • Ability to process information with a high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge of major societal issues
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature surveys on topics related to the research project
  • Assist with data collection and analysis
  • Communicate effectively with organizations and individuals to ensure timely delivery of research outputs
  • Draft reports and research papers on findings
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Employment Detail:

  • Temporary, full-time (8-week contract)
  • Number of hours per week requested: 35
  • Hourly wage: $16
  • Hybrid and remote work options available

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the applicant must be:

  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the beginning of the employment period;
  • a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* for the duration of the employment; and
  • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

*International students are not eligible. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
