Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, as a Reliability Engineer, you fill a core technical role within our high-performing and collaborative Maintenance organization, leading and supporting a wide array of Reliability-Centered activities such as predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, equipment re-design, risk assessments, and day-to-day work execution management. You will leverage your technical background and experiences to continuously improve upon our maintenance programs and strategies for our critical assets, in support of our relentless pursuit of World Class Reliability Performance.

DESCRIPTION

  • Ensure adequate, technically based Equipment Maintenance Programs (EMP) are in place for all assigned equipment
  • Monitor and track the reliability performance of assigned asset equipment to achieve business plan delay rates and manufacturing targets
  • Utilizes appropriate failure analysis techniques to determine root causes of equipment failures and initiates necessary corrective action to eliminate/reduce such failures
  • Provide guidance around Maintenance strategies and reliability decisions for critical existing equipment and new equipment installations
  • Work closely with Engineering support groups – Manufacturing Technology Equipment Engineering, Central Engineering and Project Managers to ensure the reliability and maintainability of assigned equipment is being suitably addressed

Monitor / Analyze / Troubleshoot Equipment Performance

  • Conduct regular analysis of equipment failure / delay performance to assess the adequacy of the Equipment Maintenance Program (EMP)
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis of failures
  • Identify gaps in the EMP adequacy and initiate tactics to close those gaps
  • Provides guidance and expertise re: equipment limitations, capability, and potential opportunities to other functional groups
  • Provides troubleshooting for deficiencies in a local area or for a specific equipment type

Manage Equipment Risk

  • Ensure adequate, technically based Equipment Maintenance Programs are in place
  • Utilizes appropriate failure analysis techniques to determine root causes of equipment failures and initiates necessary corrective action to eliminate/reduce such failures

Equipment Maintenance Program

  • Develop asset maintenance strategies for critical equipment with minimal assistance from others
  • Ensure technically based Equipment Maintenance Programs are in place and that they are effective to achieve the required equipment reliability goals
  • Lead maintenance resources through the Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) process as a risk mitigation tool around Maintenance programs
  • Ensure all Equipment Maintenance Programs contain adequate requirements, standards, and procedures for equipment inspections, and predictive technologies
  • Ensure all equipment maintenance records are up to date and are available for audits
  • Participate in maintenance audits

Work Management

  • Collaborate with Asset Trade Specialists around work ID, ensuring all required Equipment Maintenance Program related work is properly captured in the work management system
  • Partner with Asset Trades Specialist resources in prioritization of work for equipment outages, the establishment of maintenance shops; sets priorities to ensure timely, efficient repair/replacement of equipment
  • Determine establishment and assignment of preventive maintenance procedures for the proper care of equipment

Equipment Improvement / Upgrades

  • Perform maintenance and reliability studies and / or Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for existing and proposed replacement equipment
  • Works closely with Technical, Maintenance and Operations personnel to ensure that drawings are updated in keeping with equipment modifications
  • Provide input into equipment redesigns to ensure reliability is incorporated into all equipment modifications or new installations
  • Works with equipment suppliers and outside engineering to specify design requirements for new / modified equipment to improve operating performance and / or equipment reliability
  • Participate in benchmarking analysis activities, create gap analysis assessment reports and tactics to close gaps, and implementation of the associated tactics

Asset R&M Spending

  • Perform R&M cost analysis on equipment to identify opportunities to reduce and optimize costs
  • Assist the Asset Maintenance Coach with the preparation of budgets and R&M spending reports
  • Act as a reference for ATS resources on the functionality of the various R&M spending monitoring tools, dashboards, Power BI, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • College Technologist Diploma or University Engineering Degree in a Mechanical, Materials or Electrical discipline.
  • 5 years of maintenance and reliability-based experience **preferred
  • Prior experience with cranes, conveying equipment or industrial rotating equipment **preferred
  • Certified Maintenance Management Professional designation **an asset
  • Bilingual: English and French (oral and written) **preferred
  • Criminal background check **required

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant
  • Predominately a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature changes and noise
  • Required to wear personal safety equipment
