POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Commercial Lines Insurance Advisor (CSR)

Direct Report: Reports directly to Office Manager.

Position Summary: Responsible for service of assigned Commercial Lines accounts. Evaluate, select and offer best product and pricing to customers. Provide support system for designated producers to ensure a profitable book of business.

Functions:

1. Establish strategic relationship with designated producer(s) to ensure a high level of service and strong working relationship. Maintain a professional relationship to enhance understanding of targeted markets and contribute to quality service, problem solving, and risk selection.

2. Ensure all company procedures are handled with extreme care. Process all renewals and correspondence diligently and professionally. Ensure all binders, renewals and documentation is processed in a timely manner.

3. Maintain customer files by documenting our Broker Management System efficiently
4. Receive and return phone calls from customers and underwriters.
5. Demonstrate the ability to deal with customers face to face. Answer questions, resolve problems and create solutions.

6. Be accountable and become familiar with customers.
7. Working independently with underwriters and establish good rapport and respect for one another. It is important to engage them if there is a strong business case.

8. Assist in ensuring quality risk selection and pricing to maximize brokerage profitability and increase retention.

9. Ensure endorsements, renewals, reissues, and cancellations are reviewed and analyzed in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines .

10. Consult with senior staff regarding unique or unusual risks to minimize adverse risk selection and maintain the quality and profitability of the portfolio.

11. Provide quality customer service to assigned producers including clarification of coverage, wordings, and claims history.

12. Complete data entry to ensure timeliness of transaction processing concerning policy and customer information.

13. Understand and adhere to service standards in accordance with company guidelines.
14. Participate in the development of business plans to contribute to corporate objectives.
15. Monitor trends and developments, identifying areas of concern regarding loss ratios, risk trends, or other discrepancies.

16. Develop and maintain working knowledge of all brokerage supported software.
17. Develop and maintain a knowledge and understanding of company operations and procedures, including demographic, economic, and social characteristics to increase market share.

18. Maintain knowledge of industry trends, developments, and regulatory changes.
19. Portal changes as required by various companies
20. Other duties as assigned

Contacts:

Internal: Maintains contact with Producers and support staff.

External: Maintains contact with Customers, Underwriters and all pertinent industries relating to the organization.

· Strong analytical and decision making skills.

Experience / Knowledge / Educational Requirements:

· RIBO licenced with 5 years experience
· C.A.I.B., C.I.P., F.C.I.B., F.C.I.P., C.R.M., B.Comm, B.A. would be an asset.
· Knowledge of brokerage underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting/technical manual information and computer workflow procedures.

· Working knowledge of Claims, Risk Management, Premium Accounting.
· Working knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Database packages.
· Knowledge of Powerbroker, Compu Quote, Policy Works, ACT, Windows, EXCEL, and Insurance Company portals
· Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Business or related discipline).

· Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional and technical development.
