RTL Construction has been operating in Canada’s north for over 50 years. We specialize in civil and industrial construction including water and sewer, road building, and mine site remediation amongst other areas. Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Project Manager is primarily responsible for finding, estimating, and bidding prospective construction jobs based in and around Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Once jobs are awarded, the Project Manager oversees numerous aspects of the operations while work is in production.
The successful Project Manager will:
- conduct a daily review of internet forums/notification from municipal, territorial, and federal government to gather tenders; review and collectively decide in consultation with team on bid submissions
- submit bids ensuring accuracy of the required components for each bid submission
- ensure supervisors provide a daily update on production, staff on site, and progress of each civil construction project
- visit sites as required to observe job progress and quality control
- prepare invoice amounts and documentation for Finance
- communicate with construction supervisors and superintendents about job expectations, timelines, and the general scope of each project
- liaise with customers, subcontractors, and regulatory officials regarding progress of projects, arising issues and other pertinent matters
The successful Project Manager has:
- P.Eng., or CET designation with relevant experience in project management
- background in civil construction (road building, aggregate production, and water and sewer experience preferred)
- familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures
- excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Work and Project
- experience in Estimating/Project Management software preferred
- highly proficient communication skills; both verbally and written
- outstanding customer service and client relations skills
- strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- ability to maintain a sense of humor and composure in challenging situations
- success working in a fast-paced environment requiring initiative and ambition
