We are seeking highly competent and committed individuals to grow with us through a series of varied production roles key to ensuring that we achieve the safety, production, cost and quality targets that we have set for each department. We offer a variety of positions within most of our operating departments ranging from general labourer duties, receiving and shipping of product and raw materials, to operator roles in our various production departments.
The job environment requires actively coordinating and working with a variety of people in changing situations. Experience in the integrated steel industry or other heavy manufacturing settings is a definite asset to position you for success in these roles.
Qualifications Required
- Must have a minimum of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent and the ability to successfully complete all aspects of the recruitment process including but not limited to a physical assessment, and a general aptitude evaluation.
- Related Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree (in various trades, manufacturing techniques, pre-apprenticeship) and/or relevant industrial work experience is preferred.
- Must be able to wear a respirator, a Scott Air pack, be comfortable working at heights and in all weather conditions as well as to perform physical labour.
- Must be able to work safely and effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to understand and follow plant safety and production policies and procedures.
- Must be able to develop and maintain effective relationships; this includes good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently; through demonstrated organization, time management and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
- Demonstrated computer skills with the ability to work with key computer programs (e.g. word, excel), mobile applications and various production systems.
- AZ or DZ license with experience operating various pieces of mobile equipment ranging from fork-lifts to 777 dump trucks is an asset.
- Must be able to work Shift work which requires working days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
