We are currently looking for a designer to join our in-house Research and Development team. This position includes design and development of upcoming products, as well as the refinement of existing hearth products and accessories. This opportunity would be ideal for those seeking to gain experience in the field of product design and has the potential to extend into a longer-termed position for the right candidate.

These duties will also include:

• Using Solidworks to create 3D models and drawings.
• Initial design, part and assembly drawings, prototyping/fabricating, safety testing, build documentation, and final assembly supervision.
• Writing owner’s manuals and assembly manuals.

Formal Education

• Post-secondary education with a Mechanical Technologist certificate or higher.

Related Experience

• CAD/3D Modeling experience necessary, preferably using SolidWorks.
• Experience in project coordination is an asset.
• Experience in manufacturing is an asset.

Other Requirements

• Good knowledge of computers and various software, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Illustrator) is an asset.
• Able to work on multiple tasks concurrently and to effectively handle changing priorities.
• Good spoken and written communication skills.
• Experience with hand and power tools (ie drill, grinder, etc)
• Good relationship building skills. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with employees at all levels in the organization.
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated. Works well individually and in a team environment.
• Self-directed individual.
• Good attention to details.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
