Local Candidates preferred but open to candidates who are available on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis.

Positions begin on a Temporary Fixed-Term basis with the potential to move to a regular, full-time role in the future.

These positions work shifts of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off with 12 hours per shift. Shifts will comprise of both day and night shifts during your rotation. The compensation rate for these positions currently begins at $26.28/hr for entry-level and determined by experience. These roles include paid travel to and from the site as well as housing accommodations, but employees are responsible for providing their own food/meals.

NEED:

The Water Treatment Operator (WTO) plays a crucial role in the successful operation and maintenance of all water treatment plant equipment and related water storage and conveyance facilities at the Faro Mine Complex (FMC). As a WTO you will perform a variety of various functions that may include the following:

  • Operation and reporting of water treatment facilities.
  • Monitor and reporting of dams, pits, ponds, and other water streams.
  • Manage support equipment including pumps and piping.
  • Work 12-hour day and night shifts as scheduled.
  • Complete timely and accurate daily records of plant and pumping performance.
  • Conduct daily site inspection and record observations.
  • Notify supervisor of any issues relating to the water treatment process, pumps and pipelines.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times.
  • Engage in all forms of labour to assist in the successful operation of all water treatment processes.
  • Assist site trades and services personnel as necessary.
  • Attend training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in mine rescue training.
  • Participate in first aid training.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous water treatment, process or industrial experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to resolve issues in a professional manner.
  • Willingness to take initiative and be self motivated.
  • Willingness to accept accountability for their work.
  • Understanding of time management.
  • Able to lift, pull, stand, or crouch for long periods of time.
  • Capable of the safe handling of lime and other chemicals.
  • Able to adapt to change.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Familiar with computer skills -Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk.Ability to work with little supervision and function in a multidiscipline environment.
