OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Looking for a PERMANENT FULL TIME Occupational Therapist to work in LTC and Convalescent Care Programs in Etobicoke, ON (4 days/wk) and Burlington, ON (1 day/wk).

EXCELLENT REMUNERATION - Approx. $83,000 to $85,000/year

Willing to hire/mentor Resident OTs

The LTC Home is located in Etobicoke North and the OT would work 4 days/week in this setting. The Convalescent Care Program is located in Burlington ON and is affiliated with Joseph Brant Memorial, and the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN. This 19-bed program offers rehabilitation and support to patients from the hospital, until they are strong enough to move back into their own home. The OT would work in the Convalescent Care Program 1 day/week.

The Occupational Therapist hired will work in an interdisciplinary team environment alongside Physicians, Physiotherapists, Nurses, as well as OTAs & PTAs. The Occupational Therapist must be Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

Day to day duties:

• Check referrals in the morning.
• Assess Residents and document assessment findings
• Communicate with the interdisciplinary team on assessment findings, recommendations and plan for discharge.
• Primary conditions treated are lower body fractures and strong focus on improving clients ADLs and fine motor skills in order to be discharged into the community.
• Assign treatments to a Restorative Care Aide as needed.
• Attend Team Meetings (PT/OT/Nursing/Social Worker) & Meetings with clients/families upon admission

Education: Bachelors and/or Masters of Occupational Therapy
