The Computer Technician 2 provides technical leadership and support in a networked computer environment through the analysis, diagnosis and formulation of solutions to technical problems, and ensures assigned equipment and software, including security equipment, is operational to a defined standard.
What you’ll do
- Provides technical expertise and advice in systems, communications and user problems by analyzing and diagnosing problems and formulating solutions.
- Ensures the proper operation of equipment utilized within Fraser Health by installing, configuring and testing hardware, such as servers, SANs, switches, and software, such as Meditech and Microsoft Exchange. Scripts software to work around blocks that prevent application from working properly.
- Monitors systems activity and security by utilizing systems management tools to ensure security measures are set and systems are operating at the appropriate internal standard. Adjusts security measures when new systems are installed or existing systems are upgraded to ensure security thresholds are being met.
- Develops technical support documentation and procedures for system restorable and rebuilding procedures.
- Provides technical expertise and participates in planning for the installation of new/revised application systems, and coordinates the activities relating to the installation of hardware and software specific to systems implementations.
- Plans and participates in all new evaluation trials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Grade 12, graduation from a recognized two year computer systems technology diploma program, plus three years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
