Unique Opportunity to Learn New Skills and Gain Experience – Music Industry - Internship

We are seeking interns for 10 to 20 hours per week for this music industry internship. This is a 3 to 6 month internship for those attending College or University. It is also applicable for those seeking internship credit for College or University. We will take your core skills and experience and build some amazing results, together!

Are you interested in promoting and booking gigs, writing and communication, marketing, social media, booking artists, promoting and managing performances and learning how to promote music, all while keeping all of this organized through the discipline of project management!? If so, please apply! A great deal of the work can be done remotely or on location at a gig/show.

TRAINING INTERNSHIP in the Music Industry

General Purpose: Preparation of materials and completion of specific projects, while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. The intern will learn best practices in marketing, communications and artist management from experienced staff.

Responsibilities and tasks may include:

  • Outreach to Book Shows in Canada and US
  • Show Promotion
  • Outreach for Music Recording Collaborations
  • SOCAN and other rights organizations submissions for new music
  • Planning live and online events
  • Event management
  • Writing, editing, and sending out press releases
  • Marketing support
  • Social media content creation, management and engagement
  • Inform stations, podcasts and bloggers about our artists
  • Obtaining grant funding for artists
  • Updating and creating content
  • Assisting with email marketing campaigns
  • Launching new music
  • Artist management
  • Database updates
  • Video editing, as well as taking photos and videos
  • Coordinating and organizing events
  • Support in organizing facilities and managing all event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc.
  • Cooperate with marketing and PR to promote and publicize events
  • Gig coordination and support
  • Conduct pre- and post–event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Research market, identify event opportunities and generate interest

REQUIREMENTS

Candidate should possess:

  • Currently enrolled in College or University in the fields of marketing, music, English or communications
  • Interest in the Music Industry, Marketing, Communications, Writing and Social Media
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, basic database knowledge
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools

  • This training is similar to that which is provided in a vocational school
  • This training is for the benefit of you personally, to develop your skills, resume, etc.
  • Your training supervisor will ensure that the activities you work on benefit you while you are being trained
  • This position is only for learning purposes and does not displace any employees in this company
  • This is an internship which can be utilized to support the individual obtaining a university/college credit

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This is an internship which is funded by the Canadian government for 3 to 6 months for a maximum of 240 hours. Therefore, please REVIEW THE FOLLOWING to determine if you meet the following criteria for this government grant.

What is the eligibility criteria for students? To be eligible, you must fit ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

1. Registered as a student in a Canadian postsecondary institution, with no age limit; and

2. Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,

3. Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and,

4. NOT an international student on a work permit, co-op permit, or student visa.

*Please note that students on temporary work permits, and international students are NOT ELIGIBLE for the Level UP program. Eligibility criteria is set as part of the funding agreement with the Government of Canada.
