Trafigura Group has an immediate need for a qualified Mine Engineer at its Myra Falls Mine on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Myra Falls Mine is an underground mine operation located 90 km southwest of Campbell River, BC in the picturesque surroundings of Strathcona Provincial Park. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the trip to the mine has some of the world’s most impressive views.

Description:

The purpose for this position is to take part in the development of the weekly and monthly plan and to ensure that all the required designs are ready on a timely manner for the execution of the plan.

Accountability:

The Mine Engineer reports to the senior engineer and is responsible for ensuring the following:

• Compliance with Myra Falls Mine HSEC policies
• Generating drill and blast design for stoping
• Developing cable bolts designs as per the ground support standard
• Developing paste letters and back filling plans
• Taking charge of the stope extraction note and stope reconciliations
• Developing the weekly (7+21) plan as required
• Developing monthly forecast
• Taking part in ventilation planning and mine surveyor as required
• Undertaking regular site visits to ensure that execution is compliant to the plan
• Attend safety meetings and demonstrate safely leadership
• Assist in development of SOPs and JHA procedures

Qualifications and Experience

• This position requires a postsecondary study in Mining from a recognized institution.
• Preferably a minimum of 3 years of experience in underground mining
• Experience in Drill and Blast and Mine planning (short term and mid-range planning)
• A working knowledge of mine planning software is not required but will be an asset
