The Opportunity:

The Maintenance assistant helps the tradespersons in performing mechanical duties across the plant.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

• Maintenance of various broken-down equipment.
• Routine/preventative maintenance of various equipment.
• Clean, oil, and grease various equipment.
• Minor repairs after appropriate training and within actual ability.
• Maintenance of building and grounds.
• Documentation and record keeping both computerized and hard copy.
• Physically fit and able to lift, push, and/or pull, weight of up to 60lbs.
• Be willing to adhere to all hygienic and food safety requirements in the plant
• Be comfortable in a unionized environment
• Be legally able to work in Canada

What You’ll Bring:

• Experience in a similar position/ mechanical is required.
• Must be able to work alone and or in a group.
• Excellent Attendance and good Health & Safety record.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required, this may include some weekends.
• Good English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Must be physically able to lift and move objects/tools above shoulders.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and perform physical demanding tasks.
• Ability to live our Maple Leaf leadership values.
• Ability to work with proper PPEs and perform repetitive tasks.
• Initiative, sense of urgency, “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to work in an environment where you might be exposed to blood, enzymes, and fat.
