JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be double vaccinated to work at the mall locations. VP Protection as a company does not mandate vaccines, but some Clients who hold our large mall site contracts mandate this policy.
• Must hold a valid security guard license issued by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Correctional Services.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year in a security supervisor role
• Two years of security experience in a High Traffic Mall or Retail Industry is an Asset
• Must have knowledge of other residential database software.
• Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related Acts, Codes, and WHMIS
• Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Knowledge of CCTV Systems, Access Control Systems and Alarm Monitoring.
• Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills, including conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making, situational assessment and communication skills.
• Must be able to walk, run, stand for extended periods of time, in addition to climbing stairs.
• Knowledge of radio usage
• Must have excellent customer service skill
• Good report writing and note taking skills

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as an exemplar of security through clear understanding of procedures and excellent work ethics.
• Assist Security Guard team in ensuring the safety and security of people, valuable materials, and classified documents pertaining to the premises.
• Ensure that all Security Staff are trained and are adhering to Site Procedures and Policies through consistent supervision and periodic test administration using the site training check list.
• Efficiently supervise and manage Security Staff performance, informing Operations, utilizing the corrective discipline process, and taking any necessary disciplinary action
• Access control and CCTV monitoring
• Patrolling Commercial site, and traffic control and/or directing foot traffic
• Internal and external foot patrols
• Conduct lock ups and open ups
• Communicate with on site tenants in person, via telephone and/or email when required
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks and delegate instruction to a team of guards
• Escalate performance concerns to head office management and support additional training requirements when needed
• Monitor the dress, deportment, and written reports of staff.
• Managing daily activities of staff to ensure qualified coverage of security functions.
• Act as the liaison between the Security Unit, Administration Managers, and local Emergency services
• Act as first responder in case of emergency, first aid or any other intervention.
• Conduct regular inspections of the serviceability of firefighting and other equipment.
• Access control, CCTV surveillance, contractor escorts & report writing.
• Inspect entry and exit logs of personnel, materials, and vehicles at every start and end of shift
• Meticulous memo book writing/report writing/incident reports
• Be completely accountable for all eventualities on site, including but not limited to, parking enforcement, areas under maintenance, restricted areas, any other incidences.
• Keep an open line of communication and availability with team and Operations and responding to site emails in a timely manner
