If you answered yes, our Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) site located near Pinawa, Manitoba is looking for a Maintenance Engineer. The Maintenance Engineer will provide Electrical, Electronic and Instrumentation & Control engineering support to the Site Infrastructure organization. This position is essential to ensuring that technical work is executed properly and safely. The incumbent provides support for technically complex maintenance work, technical reviews of work plans, conducts engineering changes and is a subject matter expert for project management changes. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifying management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.

What will you be doing?

· Producing, updating, and upgrading maintenance documentation including maintenance procedures and manuals, emergency procedures, safety documents, quality assurance documents and other maintenance related documents.

· Identifying, investigating, and solving maintenance problems.

· Supporting effective maintenance of the site.

· Providing work coordination support for maintenance activities.

· Providing review of internal work plans and replacement component documentation.

· Incorporating lessons learned from operating experience into the maintenance program.

· Planning and coordinating process improvements, upgrades, maintenance or repairs.

· Proposing alternatives/improvements to the existing equipment and/or process to optimize the equipment performance.

· Supporting efforts to improve work processes and increasing maintenance effectiveness.

· Acting as a single point of contact on maintenance activities.

· Reviewing designs, writing and reviewing work plans, generating and reviewing preventive maintenance procedures, and providing field support to Maintainers.

· Performing/coordinating facility walk downs to improve preventive maintenance program.

· Providing maintenance technical assistance to personnel involved in projects and non-standard tests.

· Ensuring maintenance activities are documented as required.

· Playing a significant role in addressing and upgrading ageing system components with state-of-the-art replacements.

· Developing, revising when required, and delivering training on maintenance related activities.

· Performing on-call duty, if required.

· Assisting in establishing and maintaining technical performance parameters of equipment and rates to meet product specifications.

· Providing support to resolve outstanding procedural requirements to support maintenance program.

· Interacting effectively with Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Operators and Skilled Trades.

· Assisting with Master Equipment List initiative.

· Acting as a Technical Specialist in the development of PMs and change processes for PMs

· Assist with Lock Out Tag Out /Order To Operate issues.

· Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.

· Performing other duties as assigned by manager.

What we are looking for:

· Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of three (3) years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security”.

· Bachelor degree (Honors) in Electrical Engineering or Applied Science from a university of recognized standing.

· Membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.

· Significant related working experience plus experience in maintenance planning, design, commissioning and/or operations experience in a plant or nuclear operating environment would be an asset

· Ability to work in a team environment, maintain a clear focus on team goals, and establish good rapport with groups and individuals of many diverse professions is required.

· General computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications software is a requirement.

· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Access would be an asset.

· Must be a self-starter, with proven organizational and work planning skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

· Experience in the management of small projects would be an asset.

· Must perform duties in a manner that promotes CNL’s goals and objectives.

· Knowledge of CNL’s operations, maintenance and projects.

· Basic knowledge of safety requirements within industrial operations.

· Knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System would be an asset.

· Must be able to read and understand all types of engineering drawings.

· Knowledge of CLC, CAN N286, ISO 9001 and CEC C22.1-15 standards would be an asset.

· Knowledge and understanding of CSA Z460 (CSA LOTO Standard) and CSA Z462 or NFPA-70E (Workplace Electrical Safety).

· Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records.

· Must be punctual, dependable and safety minded.

· Exceptional organizational skills, detail oriented and able to prioritize and time management is required.

· Ability to understand detailed information is essential.

· Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one’s work.

· Ability to adapt to a changing environment and response with initiative.

· Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.

· Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision; and

· Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs.

Working Conditions:

· Must possess normal physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting and mobility.

· Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.

· Visual concentration is required for reviewing reports and drawings, etc.

· Perform a variety of duties or challenging tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
