Maintenance Assistant-Temporary Position (4-6 months with possible ext) Job at Portal Village Retirement Community
The Community of Portal Village is located in Port Colborne and provides residents with 3 levels of care. This temporary position will assist the Maintenance Manager with day-to-day activities in a retirement community setting. Upon hire, candidates must provide a vulnerable sector check, 2-step TB screen and proof of Covid vaccines (2).
Duties:
- Assist Maintenance Manager with troubleshooting and completing general repairs throughout the building and in residents rooms
- Perform preventive maintenance to P-Tec units, cleaning condensers and louvers.
- Updating rooms in Garden Terrace section of the building, including electrical, receptacle switches, ballasts, light fixtures
- Assist with maintenance of commercial dryer units, inspect belts, greasing, and inspect for wear
- Assist with preventive maintenance of equipment throughout the building, for example, the ice machine in the kitchen requires cleaning of evaporator coils annually and cleaning of catch trays every 6 months
- Assist with upgrading of rooms as needed
- Assist with resident moves as needed.
- Responding to resident concerns
- Includes working with Bell, Cogeco and may perform some plumbing duties.
Hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 3 days per week, Monday to Friday.
Previous maintenance experience/qualifications required to perform duties as described above.
