Allocating Crown land in a way that ensures its best use and minimizing its effect on other values, you utilize your knowledge of resource management and superior negotiating abilities. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:

  • Degree or diploma in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible* (within 6 months) for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
      • Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a professional in another Canadian jurisdiction or another BC professional association referred to above, and able to transfer that membership to a BC professional association within 6 months of employment. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have their qualifications reviewed by the appropriate body to ensure they have the necessary requirements for registration.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • 2 or more years of resource management experience.
  • Experience in supervising, leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Experience in fish and/or wildlife management.
  • Experience in First Nations relations
  • Experience in contract administration and management.

Provisos:

  • Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid BC driver’s licence or equivalent.
  • Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
  • May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

Professional Designation: YES - Please include your registration number in your application. You must be registered (or immediately eligible for registration) as a Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP); OR, a Professional Agrologist with the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists (BCIA); OR, a Professional Engineer/Geoscientist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia (EGBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the appropriate BC association (ABCFP, BCIA, EGBC). Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
