Live-in Innkeeper

We are a boutique inn located in downtown Kingston. Our inn is a heritage property that includes 11 ensuite guestrooms, indoor common areas and gardens. We pride ourselves on consistently delivering an exceptional guest experience, by providing a warm hospitality experience in a beautiful setting.

We are looking for an experienced and reliable live-in innkeeper to assist with front desk duties, act as an evening attendant, and respond to emergency after-hours calls. The Candidate must be comfortable working in a historic home with numerous staircases, have excellent time management skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a small team.

A free on-site studio apartment is provided as part of total compensation. Utilities and WiFi are included.

You are:

  • A friendly, professional, and compassionate individual who has a passion for creating experiences for our guests.
  • An individual who pays attention to detail and who works well under pressure. You have an eye for presentation and an acute sense of design. We pride ourselves on perfect execution, so this is a must.
  • Handy, and comfortable with light property maintenance.
  • A professional communicator over email, phone, and text. We use a text concierge system for our guests, so the majority of guest interactions are through text. Social media skills are an asset.
  • Knowledgeable of Kingston and the surrounding areas, so you are able to give advice and activity suggestions to guests.
  • Looking forward to being physically active! There is much walking, standing, bending, and stooping during a shift. You must be able to lift 40lbs without assistance and be comfortable climbing our many staircases.
  • Available for daytime and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to live on-site. A renovated studio apartment will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overall, creating a warm, safe, and comfortable guest experience, and making sure that all aspects of the guest’s stay exceed their expectations.
  • Receiving and responding to emergency after-hours calls
  • Assisting with property maintenance (e.g. painting, exterior maintenance, handyman jobs)
  • Answering phone calls and emails
  • Providing guest concierge services
  • Making reservations and taking payment
  • Inspecting guest-rooms and common areas prior to check-in to ensure they meet cleanliness and presentation standards
  • Preparing amenity trays and adding finishing touches to rooms prior to check-in
  • Enforcing health and safety practices
  • Communicating with management to report maintenance and/or repair needs.

Assisting with other duties as required:

  • Housekeeping
  • light property maintenance
  • Laundry and pressing linens
  • Preparing and serving breakfast
  • Planning and hosting small, private events

We require all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
