Hub City Volkswagen, 1822 Queensway, Prince George, BC, V2L 1L8, is currently in need of journeyman mechanics for our busy, customer driven automotive repair shop. The successful applicant will be energetic, will possess above average interpersonal skills and will demonstrate an above average attention to detail.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Adhere to established safe working procedures and wear the proper safety equipment at all times
  • Comply with applicable legislation, company rules and policies
  • Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
  • Complete paperwork associated with the tasks performed.
  • Perform all mechanical repairs, diagnostics & maintenance
  • Be in good health and able to lift heavy items up to 75lbs

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified mechanic from any Jurisdiction.
  • Knowledge of Volkswagen or other german brands considered an asset.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Time Management skills

Work Conditions

  • Use of required personal protective equipment
  • Repetitive work
  • Regular exposure to conditions including heat, humidity, and dust
  • Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment
  • Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
  • Exposure to hazards associated with the industry/trade
  • Occasional overtime
  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
  • Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
  • Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
