ABOUT THE CAETANI CENTRE: A 125+-year-old designated heritage site near the downtown core of Vernon, BC, the Caetani Centre houses artifacts, digital and video presentations, and displays focusing on the mysterious royal Italian Caetani family, their historic and artistic legacy in the North Okanagan, and their fascinating story of 1920s immigration to the region. The Centre encompasses a large 6,000 sq. foot heritage home/museum and is located on a 1.3-acre park-like property used for special events, festivals, programs, and fundraising. The property also features several studio outbuildings used by working artists and an 800 sq. ft. art gallery housing the permanent collection of Sveva Caetani’s Recapitulation Series. The Interpreter and Archival / Curatorial Assistant will be additionally expected to conduct research on various artifacts in our collection with the aim of assisting staff in the development of our exhibition’s interpretation for the public. The completion of an interpretive project intended to utilize modern technologies in audio or visual media will also be expected, with the assistance of staff. Some accessioning work may additionally be required when we receive donations of art or artifacts.

Opportunities for giving living history tours are available for interested candidates with performance experience.

Other duties include assistance with volunteer recruiting, fundraising, public relations, event management, and business administration. General light duties for venue and garden maintenance may be required.

ABOUT YOU: The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, confidence in public speaking, an awareness of current social interests and issues, excellent communication skills, and high attention to detail.

An intermediate-level understanding of Microsoft Office, archival research methods, online resources, audio/visual media editing, documentation, and presentation technology, and website and graphic design, combined with a broad interest in the arts, culture, heritage, tourism, and community engagement would be an asset.
