Stuart Olson is searching for certified Industrial Instrumentation Technicians to join us with an immediate start date for our 2023 turnaround at the Nova Chemical site in Red Deer. Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot, and repair transmitters, switches, and control valves.
• Calibrate and adjust set points on a variety of different instruments.
• Coordinate with control room to stroke and function test valves and dampers.
• Install and trouble tubing and air actuated instruments.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
• Repair faulty equipment or systems.
• Understand and practice company policies and procedures.
• Maintain safe work practices.
• Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be an Alberta Apprenticeship Board recognized Instrumentation Journeyperson, or 4th year apprentice
• Experience working turnaround(s) or construction in an operating Petro Chemical facility
• CSTS 2020
• Fall Protection (preferred not mandatory)
• Compliance to client site Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing

Working Conditions

• Working at heights
• Working in a confined space
• Working in and around noise and dust
• Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
• Must be clean shaven
• Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots,

• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
• Stand or walk for long periods of time
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
