We are looking for an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, to work with the Engineering Design Manager. This role will be facing a great variety of projects. To be successful, you must have 5+ years of industrial and municipal engineering and design experience.

Working with the Engineering Design Manager, the Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer offers a great variety of projects, and will see you involved in:

  • Planning and owning the delivery of Instrumentation and Control systems designs
  • Leading and contributing to the preparation of proposals and bids for projects
  • Providing creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities.
  • Coordinating the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members
  • Fulfilling the instrument and control systems engineering needs for a wide variety of industrial and municipal clients
  • Providing design and engineering for projects and proposals to assure that design and equipment meets customer specifications and industry codes and standards.
  • Participating in a multi-disciplinary environment in determining the instrumentation, controls, and process automation requirements
  • Developing detailed engineering packages to represent installation requirements for process control systems and instrumentation.
  • Verifying accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Traveling to fabrication sites, installation sites, and client facilities as needed to support project requirements.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Proven excellence at all stages of the project life cycle, from preparing bids to feasibility studies, consenting, detailed design and data analysis, and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrate professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating issues.
  • Robust written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely.
  • An interest in coaching and mentoring to technically strengthen the team capabilities.

Must haves:

  • P. Eng. designation with PEO (Mandatory) ; additional Provinces would be an asset.
  • 5+ years of industrial and municipal engineering and design experience (Mandatory)
  • Strong working knowledge of P&ID’s, instrumentation, and control systems design (PLC/PAC/RTU/DCS/HMI/SCADA), networking, process automation, etc.
  • Applicant’s background should include familiarity with relevant Canadian/North American codes and standards.
  • Able to provide input in all project life cycle, starting with proposals, leading design activities and be on top of schedule, budget and quality. Collaborate with project management team for change management processes, tendering and construction support.

  • Background performing related design and engineering consulting services for a wide variety of industrial and municipal clients.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding the expectations of customers and partners and in meeting organizational mission commitments and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective communication with subordinates, peers, and superiors.
