The Opportunity

Reporting to the HR Manager, this position will assist with the administration of day-to-day operations of the Human Resources functions. The HR Assistant will carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: new employee onboarding, recruitment, drafting letters and general HR duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with providing recruitment services including posting job opening, pre- screen interviews, reference checks and job descriptions
  • Provide HR updates to payroll dept. as required (new starts, terminations, salary changes)
  • Respond to enquiries regarding the employee benefits plan
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel records including the tracking of performance reviews
  • Assist with onboarding, including new hire orientation, documentation and paperwork
  • Deliver employee engagement activities
  • Assisting with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR functions
  • Maintain human resources information and related records systems in compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Must be located in Edmonton, or in close proximity to commute to the Edmonton, AB office.
  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resource management preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in an HR Support position is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional levels of professionalism, diplomacy, tact, and understanding of confidentiality.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High levels of flexibility and adaptability; experience with organizational change.
  • A proven track record of building collaborative partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, community, and history.
  • Able to work independently and with a team.
