Horticulturist I

The City of Campbell River is seeking a Horticulturist I to join their Parks team.

The role – you will perform tasks assigned in the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and associated record keeping of the City’s gardens, boulevards, green spaces, and trees.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A Horticulture Technician Certificate from a recognized college or technician institute

OR

• Successful completion of the BC Industry Training Authority’s Landscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship Common Core Level I and Level II exams.
• Current Pesticide Applicators Certificate (Landscape – Integrated Pest Management)
• Minimum three (3) months practical horticulture experience
• Minimum three (3) months in the maintenance and the application of pesticides, and the ability to plant, transplant, fertilize, irrigate, cultivate, mulch, weed, and prune trees, shrubs, and plants.
• Valid Driver’s Licence, and produce and maintain a clean driver’s abstract, as per City Policy.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1

The rate of pay for this permanent, part-time, CUPE bargaining unit position is $31.30 per hour based on a 40-hour work week, working 8 months per year (March through October) and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
