Heavy Equipment Technician Job at Fournier-Fils
Summary
Reporting to the Garage Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, checking, repairing, and adjusting various components and systems of heavy equipment.
Main responsibilities
- Determine the condition of heavy equipment on-site by performing inspections and tests to identify damaged or worn parts.
- Maintain, repair and service a variety of heavy equipment.
- Replace defective parts, components, or systems using appropriate tools.
- Test performance of repaired equipment and ensure work meets manufacturer's specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule on all equipment to ensure lubrication, tire replacement, and tune-ups.
- Perform hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting on air conditioning and lubrication systems.
- Check and adjust engine valves when necessary.
- Test and replace engine injectors when necessary.
Skills required
- Considerable knowledge of tools and equipment used and required for the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Skilled in diagnosing problems on various pieces of equipment.
- Regular ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance in a specific area.
Required qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the field of heavy equipment maintenance.
- Training in heavy equipment mechanics or equivalent experience.
- Possess a valid class G driver's license.
- Bilingualism (asset).
