Gear brings innovative and flexible services and equipment to the Greater Toronto Area and is also home of Mecalac equipment. We offer rental, sales, and service of this new versatile line of excavators, loaders, dumpers, and compactors, including specialized rail-based equipment.

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic who can perform preventive maintenance and repair of our fleet of Vac Trucks and Mecalac equipment.

Summary:

The Heavy Eequipment Mechanic will be responsible for preventive maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair programs for our vehicles and heavy equipment. Position will be based at our Bradford area facility, with some local travel to job sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Completing scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment and smaller construction tools, and other equipment relating to site as required
  • Ensure schedules and equipment availability requirements are met
  • Perform smaller repairs as required but not limited to starters, hoses, alternators, batteries, lighting, and other electrical issues
  • Work with oxygen and acetylene torches
  • Willing to train for best practices via OEMs and customer requirements
  • Work with others effectively and courteously
  • Self-motivate to complete tasks as efficiently as possible following Health and Safety guidelines from the company, OEM, and customers
  • Maintain inventory of supplies
  • Maintenance of own and company tools and vehicle. Company vehicle must be kept clean and safe as per guidelines
  • Maintain documentation as per Highway Traffic Act
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, experience with vacuum trucks is an asset
  • 310T license is an asset
  • DZ license with clean driver’s abstract
  • Previous experience in electrical, hydraulics, and general truck repairs
  • Ability to trouble shoot, diagnose, and repair equipment on own
  • Must have their own basic work tools. Task specific tools will be supplied
  • Literate and able to communicate effectively in English and able to read drawings, equipment manuals, etc.
  • Comfortable with going on site
  • Punctual, willing to learn, work well with others
  • Experienced with welding is an asset
  • Maintaining a valid driver’s license is a job requirement
  • Able to work on occasional Saturdays and evenings as and when required
