Join Our Team

YMCA Pre-Kindergarten programs support families and foster the healthy growth and development of children. Our programs help children to build self-confidence, learn healthy behaviors, and develop strong values. Based on the YMCA Playing to Learn emergent curriculum our all-day child care program is licenced by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are seeking a full time General Manager, Pre-K to join our Child Care team. The General Manager, Pre-K will be expected to monitor, assess, and continuously improve the quality of products and services as outlined by licencing standards and YMCA policies while working within a focused team environment. The goal is to challenge and motivate children by creating a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment. Support is provided to families while diligently adhering to government regulations and YMCA policies, procedures, and standards. The YMCA is the Selected Proponent for the Newfoundland and Labrador Pre-K Pilot with locations anticipated to open in communities across the province in 2022 and 2023. This position is posted pending capacity funding.

Job Requirements

• ECE with Level 3 certification (preferred); other levels may be considered
• AECENL Pre-school orientation and Early Learning Child Care Framework course considered assets
• Proficiency in ActiveNet or similar (preferred)
• Familiarity with YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum (preferred)
• Ability to travel frequently between sites (mileage paid)
• Experience working in early learning and school environments
• Experience with licencing policies, regulations, and supervising staff
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and to do direct delivery of programs
• Ability to supervise management staff
• Acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sectors Check
• Current Standard First Aid
