Position Description

Fulger Transport Inc. is actively seeking to hire a new General Manager to help oversee the Mechanic Shop servicing Fulger Transport’s operations. The ideal candidate would be an experienced automotive repair professional with a proven track record within the commercial truck repair industry. This individual would be an independent self-starter with the ability to learn within a past paced environment. This position would require the successful candidate to assist in overseeing all aspects of the Mechanic Shop’s operations. This position will require the successful candidate to occasionally work on weekends and retain periodic on call availability. The main objective for this role is to learn and work with the Day Shift General Manager for the purpose of eventually taking on this role. After the successful candidate has been trained in this role they will take over managing the Afternoon Shift.

In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need:

- A deep understanding of the Logistics and Transportation Industry.

- Experience and knowledge with the commercial truck repair.

- The ability to effectively manage a team and communicate directly with drivers.

The main tasks associated with this position include:

- Managing all aspects of operating the repair facility.

- Plan and manage the entire repair process from initial diagnosis to final resolution.

- Manage all administrative processes including work orders, invoices, part ordering, inventory, etc.

- Supervise the Shop staff and complete all usual tasks associated with supervision including scheduling, health & safety compliance, performance management, and others.

- Communicating directly with drivers and members of the Operations Team to ensure operational consistency.

- Ensure facilities are maintained to levels which meet labour and building code including cleanliness and efficiency.

- Maintain and update tools and equipment used in maintenance of the fleet.

- A major element of this role is learning from the General Manager to build the competencies to run the facility independently.

- Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: This individual must have at least 5 years in commercial truck repair and at least 2 years of management experience.

Education: Highschool diploma is required. Mechanic Certification is greatly desired. Additional education within a relevant field is considered a strong asset.

- Ability to work both independently and within a team.

- Extremely organized and detail oriented.

- Must possess a strong work ethic.

- Demonstrated ability to lead a team.

- Solid interpersonal skills.

- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
