Responding to the vital infrastructure needs of our economy, we manufacture and distribute railway ties, utility poles, residential lumber and industrial wood products across the continent. The General Labour is responsible for operating several different pieces of equipment inside and outside of the building and performing a variety of tasks related to the manufacturing of pressure treated lumber.

SHIFTS: AFTERNOON SHIFT M-F 3PM - 12AM
WAGE: $20 + $1.25 SHIFT PREMIUM

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of equipment.
• Follow all company Health & Safety policies and SOPs.
• Wear all PPE required and work in a safe manner.
• Participate in all company mandated training in good faith.
• Come to work prepared (both mentally and materially) to work in a variety of environments.
• Maintain accurate production records.
• Complete appropriate forms legibly and clearly.
• Complete prestart equipment checks.
• Follow standard operating procedures.
• Manual dexterity, hand eye coordination, repetitive tasks.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Strap, tag, end tag, bag, inspect and downsize lumber as required.
• Work cooperatively with a team to achieve production targets.
• Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Abide to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) workplace health and safety standards.
• Report all Health & Safety issues immediately.
• Maintain good housekeeping in all assigned areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Forklift License, an asset.
• Proficiency in English.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be able to lift 50lbs unassisted.
• Attention to detail.
• Comfortable completing repetitive tasks.
• Basic trouble-shooting skills.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral.
