Role

The Financial Coordinator provides a financial administrative role and support to Division staff involved in financial roles. Working collaboratively with Division staff, this position provides leadership and guidance in interpreting business area needs relating to procurement, contract and grant policies, processes, procedures, best practices and risk management and relevant financial training. This position assists with reviewing contracts and grants as required before they are signed and supports quality assurance to ensure compliance with policy. The Financial Coordinator assists the DBA for financial analysis and support for emerging and ongoing issues and initiatives assigned by the ADM and Issues & Divisional Coordination Manager.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
A university graduation in a related field (Accounting); no experience required; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


Required:

  • Experience in preparation of procurement documentation is desirable and a knowledge of GoA contracting processes for service procurement practices
  • Understanding Privacy and FOIP legislation is essential


Assets:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or 365, SharePoint, ARTS, GAMS
  • Extensive knowledge of 1GX, specifically the financial functions to be able to support and train to staff
  • Experience in preparation of procurement documentation is desirable and a knowledge of GoA contracting processes for service procurement practices
  • Ability to identify problems and apply knowledge to analyze issues and resolve problems or develop alternative solutions
  • Strong self-management skills including the ability to prioritize and achieve results effectively in order to respond to numerous, diverse challenges and demands in an environment of shifting priorities in a team environment and with limited supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Salary

$2,310.48 to $3,030.81 bi-weekly ($60,303 - $79,104/year)

  • 36.25 hours per week (full time)


Position Location:

  • ATB Place, North Tower, Edmonton. This position requires working from the office with an option to qualify for a hybrid work arrangement (in accordance with GOA policy).
