What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Financial Administrative Coordinator, you will:

  • Oversee the branch budget and ensure compliance with financial and administrative corporate guidelines
  • Oversee branch human resources (HR) functions, including position management, processing of merits, preparing and assembling documentation for recruitment, secondments and contracts
  • Develop and recommend changes to administrative and financial management procedures to ensure the effective operation of the branch
  • Coordinate, monitor and track accommodations and facilities management requirements, including asset control
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems to monitor flow of correspondence
  • Research and prepare a range of materials for the Director


How do I qualify?

Financial Administration Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
  • You have experience in financial processing and analysis, expenditure management, and monitoring and budgetary control
  • You have the ability to review financial and budget reports, identify discrepancies and reconcile expenditures


Human Resources and Administrative Knowledge:

  • You know government directives, policies, collective agreements and administrative standards, practices and procedures related to purchasing, human resources, records retention and accommodations
  • You have the ability to coordinate, monitor and track accommodations and facilities management requirements, including asset control, to ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are met


Analytical and Computer Skills:

  • You have knowledge of a variety of financial, human resources, administrative and other government databases (e.g. WIN)
  • You have knowledge of the government's fiscal reporting and corporate financial system (e.g. IFIS)
  • You have the ability to interpret and analyze data to identify variances or other issues
  • You are proficient with computers and with word processing and spreadsheet software to prepare reports and correspondence


Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills:

  • You are well organized and have strong planning, problem-solving and coordinating skills
  • You can provide effective and efficient administrative support to meet operational requirements
  • You can recommend new procedures, interpret and provide advice to management


Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • You are able to liaise effectively with ministry and Ontario Public Service (OPS) contacts, colleagues and managers
  • You can build and maintain effective working relationships
  • You are able to prepare reports and correspondence
