Work with a world class automotive industry team to ensure smooth and seamless functioning of the equipment in your department using your electrical, communication and continuous improvement skills. Working with a team or independently your role will be to keep our lines running by performing PM activity or production call support during regular shift hours as well as off time hours (weekends, shutdowns, etc).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong daily PDCA activity (Solving daily 'D' struggles through deep RCA, strong CM implementation, activity follow-up checks and incident report CM closure)
  • Effective core-time PM activity (Equipment condition monitoring, in process PM's, Zone equipment checks, Cushman, Broderson crane, forklift, tow motor checks)
  • EAMS (Maximo) data entry (Document 90% of all daily activity - EQ Change points, DT calls, PM closure, WO generation, investigation and CM activity, meetings, training and improvement activity)
  • Downtime Call Support (Fast equipment recovery and decision making)
  • Daily communication (Shift start meetings, feedback for Planner, Quarterly production meetings, WO backlog reviews, activity coordination with other shift members)
  • Project and theme activity (Theme or project-based improvements to improve dept QCDMS)
  • Continuous improvement (OJT and skill based, self-teaching, equipment understanding, technical documentation creation and sharing, technical training)
  • Non-Production activity preparation and coordination (Break-Lunch-Break and off shift activity preparation, line conditions, communication, testing plan, parts preparation)
  • Department Pride Activity (Maintain all work areas, tool cribs, machine workstations and office areas)
  • Department 5S activity (Maintain strong 5S for all equipment, tools and maintenance shop, maintain local parts stocking, emergency recovery tools)
  • Parts sourcing (Quote initiation, vendor negotiations, part specification)
  • Incident report creation (Take ownership of DT and complete incident reports as required by the dept reporting triggers, deep why-why analysis with root cause and CM development)
  • New equipment specification review and support (Risk assessments, commissioning checks, Genba reviews)

Position Requirements:

  • Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) Trade License with related post-secondary diploma or equivalent work-related experience
  • Strong computer skills that include Microsoft Word and Excel, Strong verbal and written communication skills

Job Related Must Haves:

  • Willing and able to work overtime on short notice (pre and post shift)
  • Willing and able to travel internationally
  • Willing and able to support production weekends, maintenance weekends and scheduled shutdowns
  • Willing to work a three-shift rotation
  • Willing to modify work hours and shifts on short notice as required

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Equipment fabrication and metal working skills (Hand tools, measurement tools, welding and assembly)
  • Robot programming experience
  • Equipment integration experience that includes installation, setup, troubleshooting and commissioning
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot from schematics and blueprints
  • Experience with Maximo System for logging maintenance activity
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, transfers and lubrication equipment
  • Project management experience (Ability to manage contractors and construction projects)
  • Electrical aptitude (Sensor operation and can use basic electrical test equipment)
  • Strong PLC system knowledge and ladder logic programming experience
  • Evaluation of production lines to identify spare part and PM requirements

Additional Information:

Equipment Services (Ticketed): Starting wage based on experience from $39.66 to $41.75 per hour

Equipment Services Technologist (Non-Ticketed): Starting wage based on experience from $35.07 to $41.75 per hour

Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) provides a competitive salary structure and starting wage based on previous, related experience. Additionally, HCM provides weekly, monthly, and annual attendance bonuses, equaling a potential additional $1.40 per hour; a Team Achievement Bonus paid two times per year; an industry leading Defined Contribution (DC) pension that includes company contributions and company matching; and a comprehensive benefit plan that provides choice and flexibility with the cost subsidized by company contributions. HCM also provides shift premiums paid at 5% per hour up to $1.70 for afternoon shift, and 10% per hour up to $3.40 for the overnight shift.
