The County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 is seeking to fill a permanent full-time Equipment Operator position based out of the Winfield Shop. Reporting to the West Public Works Operations Foreman, the successful candidate will be required to perform road maintenance and construction work activities involving the operation of various forms of heavy construction equipment that includes dozers, track hoe excavators, loaders, rubber tired excavators, rock trucks, motor scrapers, motor graders and packers, and other duties as required. The candidate may be tasked to operate a gravel truck with various trailer configurations and snow plow attachments. Candidates who demonstrate applicable past experience as a Class 1 driver, or a willingness to undertake specialized Class 1 driver training is considered an asset.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday commencing at 7:00 a.m. (10 hour days) or as required.
Required Skills:
- Hold a Class 5 license with a clean driver’s abstract; a Class 1 License is preferred but not required.
- Be able to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Be physically fit to meet the demands of operating heavy equipment and working outdoors;
- Demonstrate an aptitude for operator equipment maintenance and care;
- Have demonstrated a minimum of three (3) years experience in the operation of light and heavy equipment in the road maintenance and construction industry.

Salary: $31.71-$35.23 per hour
