Enterprise Cloud Migration Architect Job at OMERS
Reporting to the Director – Cloud Centre of Excellence, the Enterprise Cloud Migration Architect will be responsible for directing the architectural aspects of cloud computing initiatives within organization. As a member of the Cloud Centre of Excellence, you will work closely with enterprise teams, engineering teams, LOBs in order to drive, lead and influence cloud adoption, cloud migration, cloud architecture, cloud transformation and cloud governance initiatives.
The ideal candidate is experienced in on prem & cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging cloud technologies, platforms, and applications, and extensive knowledge of cloud migration, cloud maintenance, cross collaboration, and advanced industry knowledge. You will manage the future transition from on-premises application into public cloud/hybrid-cloud environment or cloud to cloud environment. You will participate in deep architectural discussions to build confidence and ensure success when building new, or migrating existing, applications, software and services in the cloud platform. You are a self-starter, driven and can handle multiple projects and priorities. You are passionate about driving the DevSecOps mindset and culture in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you get the opportunity to work with a spectrum of latest tools and technologies to drive forward cloud adoption. To be successful in this role, the Enterprise Cloud Migration Architect will:
Lead migration modernization programs consisting of multiple workstreams, on-prem to cloud and/or cloud-to-cloud migration as well as assessing and managing the associated opportunity and risk
Create application migration roadmaps , assess, review and audit existing data center application and proposing migration roadmap, solution design and migration path based on industry standard framework including 7R cloud migration methodology & well architected framework
Partner with enterprise teams to drive the creation of cloud migration & transformation strategy and infrastructure roadmaps across application, information, business, and technology landscapes
Drive meetings with subject matter experts, enterprise teams, business teams including infrastructure, networking, operations, applications, vendors and leads to seek input from and plan/coordinate migrations, resources requirements and timelines
Architect, Implement and deployment of cloud landing zones, including 3rd-party identity provider integration, organizational hierarchy design, and validation of security controls.
Architect and deploy multi-tier architectures, High Availability, Disaster Recovery and Multi-Zonal architecture with Availability Zones and Global Regions
Architect and deploy workload containerization, container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, AKS,), and reactive microservices architecture
Architect and deploy muti tiered, multi-tenant cloud architecture with components like storage systems, content delivery network, compute, messaging service, stream service, application gateways, serverless components
Drive creation of technical standards, holistic design & patterns, reference architecture for secure cloud application environments, Cloud platform enhancements, application architecture, data services, and cloud service integrations
Guide implementation of CI/CD pipelines using Terraform or similar IaC technologies, cloud monitoring and logging tools
Lead cloud security architecture, security assessments and audit standards for the Cloud
Familiarity with DevOps and SRE best practices and culture
Consult and provide technical guidance to LOBs to refactor their application for the cloud using the 12-factor development practices for cloud-native and microservices oriented application deployment.
Establishing guidelines and strategies for the selection of solution architecture components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency
Identify and analyze Cloud end to end architecture gaps to propose new technologies and find new opportunities for innovation, automation, optimization. Establish pilots and POCs for proposed solutions and make recommendations for approvals. Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and promote CI/CD for faster and repeatable deployment
Support cloud platform in alignment with operational procedures through architecture governance framework
Support cloud platform in alignment with operational procedures through architecture governance framework
Contribute to the cloud community of practice (CoP) to promote best practice approach to drive the adoption of Cloud services
Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance, maintain cloud knowledge management
Engage with external vendors to review solutions, new capabilities and product, and service offerings

Required Core Skills:
Deep understanding of on on-prem to cloud and/or cloud-to-cloud migration strategy, end to end execution
Deep understand of cloud design patterns, cloud native architecture and principles, cloud operations and cloud security models
4-5 years of demonstrated hands-on experiencing in cloud migration, cloud design, cloud operation preferably Azure
In-Depth knowledge of Azure cloud services: Application integration, functions, Cloud Databases, data warehouse and analytics, Machine Learning, Developer Tools, Security and identity
Proven and demonstrable experience in architecting, designing and implementing high volume, high availability cloud applications with a very high degree of automation
Demonstrated ability to easily deal with both abstract and concrete concepts and be able to reconcile them for the appropriate audience and context
Proven ability to maintain both a strategic long-term outlook and enterprise perspective, while also supporting tangible, business driven and IT delivered solutions.
Quickly understand organizational dynamics and management priorities, and to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven company.
Demonstrate strong facilitation, negotiation, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
Experience building with Microservices architecture , Expert knowledge of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS concepts.
Ability to lead an in-depth technical meeting/workshop across a broad range of topics including cloud compliance, and security
Strong experience with APIs, orchestration, automation, and DevSecOps toolset (GitLab, GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps) with previous development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management / automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Azure Resource Manager, etc.
Strong experience with Landing Zone (External Firewall), DevOps Setup(Access and System Accounts for IAC), Azure PIM, Messaging, Serverless(Functions and Logic Apps) , AKS, Application Gateways, Front Door, WAF
Other skills:
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering and or equivalent industry experience
Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership Skills
A critical thinker with strong research, analytics and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and an ability to work independently and or in a team
