Electronics Field Support Engineer

Working location: 270 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora ON L4G 3T9

Geophysical research and development company is seeking a full-time electronics engineer to provide field support and electronics design to scientists and engineers involved in the development and manufacturing of electromagnetic instrumentation for subsurface exploration and characterization.

Duties will include

· Assemble, test and troubleshoot electronics PCBs and modules.

· Provide onsite/remote technical support for field operations.

· Participate in field testing and evaluation of new and revised instrument systems.

· Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods, testing finished products and verifying system capabilities.

· Design and development of embedded analog and digital electronic circuitry for geophysical instrumentation.

· Will use software to perform circuit analysis, run simulations, create schematic drawings and produce wiring diagrams and circuit boards.

· Supervise parts procurement, PCB assembly and instrument manufacturing, either in-house or contracted.

· Documentation of instrument design and operation.

· Support the proposal process for new contract opportunities and new products.

Must haves

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and documentational skills

Desirable abilities and skills

· Self-starter with ability to obtain results with limited resources.

· Knowledge of analog design, digital design, and electromagnetic theory.

· Familiarity with microcontrollers and their programming

· Experience with high speed ADC acquisition systems

· Experience coding for embedded systems in C or C++

· Experience with a schematic capture, circuit simulation and PCB layout tools.

· Knowledge of with Class D amplifiers or H-bridges

· FPGA experience with VHDL or Verilog will be an asset.

· Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques

· Hands-on mechanical skills

· Willing to travel on short notice.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering or closely related discipline and have demonstrated relevant experience.
