We are currently seeking a Licensed Electrician to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position with our Atlantic Operations based at our Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. The work schedule is 4 days on, 4 days off, 12 hour day shifts, Reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician will be an active member of the Mill Maintenance team and perform maintenance work to ensure the mill runs at the highest efficiency and with minimal downtime.

The Opportunity

  • Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
  • Running wires in walls, floors and ceilings.
  • Diagnosing electrical problems of motors and drives (Soft Starters and protective relays).
  • Installing electrical boxes, switches and receptacles.
  • Installing brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
  • Installing lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment.
  • Splicing, joining and connecting wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
  • Testing continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair.
  • Troubleshooting and isolating faults in electrical systems and remove and replace faulty components.
  • Connecting electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signaling devices and heating and cooling systems.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance programs and keeping maintenance records.
  • All other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Red Seal or Provincially Licensed Electrician.
  • Background in Industrial Controls/PLC's/Instrumentation preferred and /or willing and capable of obtaining further training and certification.
  • Self-motivated individual having good organizing and coordinating skills with a proven track record.
  • Experience in an industrial environment preferred.
  • Works well in a team environment, bringing a natural sense of urgency, providing technical support to the success of the shift team.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Effective Verbal and Written communication skills are essential.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and CMMS programs
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s License.
