Job Summary

The Information Services Division are technology leaders, planning and delivering successful solutions with information management and information technology (IM/IT) services to both the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Children and Family. The division also provides IM/IT resource planning, decision-making, project and issues management, security and privacy functions, and desktop support. Our guiding principle is to promote a service delivery culture that is respectful, fosters positive relationships, and promotes creative problem solving with all our staff and partners in the Social Sector.

Accountable for designing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and managing the organization’s secure and highly available IT hybrid (cloud/on premise) infrastructure consisting of computing systems (servers, end user devices and other endpoints), networks, storage and other infrastructure related services. The IT infrastructure supports applications that handle the core business and operational data of the organization. The infrastructure elements include databases, file servers, application servers, and middleware. This position is a member of the Corporation’s Management Committee and liaises with: executive, directors and managers to develop and communicate standards and policy; senior management in government central agencies (i.e. shared services) to develop corporate standards and policy; corporate management and other levels of staff in the implementation of technology policies and standards; managing of vendors supporting various infrastructure related services and capabilities required by the organization; and contractors on projects requiring specialized knowledge and skills.


Job Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent combination of related experience, education and training may be considered.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience managing Information Technology infrastructure services supporting complex business systems that utilize sophisticated multi-tier environments.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience with cloud computing infrastructure.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience serving at a managerial level in a large, multifaceted work environment with experience serving all levels of an organization and dealing successfully with senior management, client groups, external partners, work teams and committees.
  • Experience in ITIL IT Services Management, project management, contract management, financial management and supervision of technical and professional staff.
