The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) and Region of Waterloo (ROW), the “Organizations”, are embarking on a partnership to implement a shared Human Experience Management (HXM) solution. As the Organizations endeavor to deliver the best service possible to their communities, this new HXM solution will provide enhanced strategic value by introducing modern business practices, replacing outdated systems, and enabling a world-class user experience.


The Organizations have partnered with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for implementation and the contracted solution is the SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite (cloud-based).


With more than 1000 sworn and civilian members, the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) requires a temporary full-time Data Cleanup and Conversion Specialist (18 month contract) to support the HXM Project. The WRPS delivers exceptional police services to more than 575,000 residents. As the Data Cleanup and Conversion Specialist…


You Will:


  • Develop an understanding of the current model data layout, completes data cleansing, data validation, extraction and transformation processes across multiple systems in preparation for the HXM implementation;
  • Analyze current data sets and aggregates data from multiple data files and sources;
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and project team members to understand how data is used within particular systems;
  • Develop data migration guidance and pre-configured templates to collect data. Perform data validation, quality assurance, user interface and verification activities related to data migration;
  • Prepare and update documentation to support data migrations activities. Provide suggestions to streamline the cleansing and conversion of data and data migration processes;
  • Identify and fix data errors and other data-related problems. Understand and support data standards and processes to support master data migration;
  • Define test scenarios based on data requirements. Create test scripts to prove each scenario through system and user acceptance testing supports;
  • Execute extraction, transformation and loading of legacy data into the new HXM environment;
  • Prepare status reports and modifies schedules/work plans, as required; ensure all stakeholders are kept up-to-date and well-informed.
  • Identify challenges and provide recommendations and resolutions to the Supervisor; and
  • Perform other duties as required.


You Have:


  • Successful completion of a three-year community college diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Management or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience with designing, implementing and maintaining data integration for complex systems is required;
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of data cleansing and conversion; ability to extract and convert data from multiple sources consistently in accordance with mandated guidelines;
  • Experience working with a variety of data platforms to retrieve, combine, interact with, explore and visualize data is required;
  • Previous experience working with Human Resource Information systems, payroll, time and attendance tracking systems, or other related systems is required. Previous experience working with data in an Human experience Management (HXM) environment is preferred;
  • Experience with database design is considered an asset;
  • Previous experience working in municipal or public sector workplaces, with union and non-union team members is preferred;
  • Previous experience with data mapping, data movement, data quality and cleansing, using ETL tools, such as SSIS, FME, etc;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Word;
  • Analytical skills troubleshooting and problem-solving skills required to resolve issues as it pertains to data cleansing and data mapping;
  • Comprehension, focus and attention to detail are required when entering information into systems or analyzing information from multiple sources;
  • Demonstrated professionalism and conflict resolutions skills required to interact with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Concise and clear written abilities with the ability to communicate pertinent and time sensitive information to stakeholders;
  • A valid Class “G” Driver’s License with no more than six (6) demerit points required to travel within and outside the Region.

  • Able to clearly and concisely provide explanations and direction to technical and non-technical customers;
  • A good communicator, with the ability to understand and determine current operations and procedures, clients’ desired outputs, interpret technical concepts and provide technical support. Ability to elicit information from stakeholders to assist in the integration of systems;
  • Able to problem solve and recommend changes to current processes, systems, and procedures;
  • Able to acquire knowledge of WRPS policies, procedures, collective agreements, system configuration requirements and limitations;
  • Able to meet the testing and police security requirements and to maintain confidentiality; and
  • Able to participate as an effective team member and to support and project values compatible with the organization.
