The Passenger Transportation Enforcement Officer (PTEO) is a British Columbia Peace Officer and enforces compliance with the Passenger Transportation Act, Regulations and standards that govern the commercial passenger transportation industry and protects the safety of passenger transportation users. The PTEO will issue warnings and prosecution notices, and may delay or detain vehicles and/or drivers.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent
  • Valid class 5 (minimum) driver’s licence in good standing with no more than 9 points within the last five year period**
  • Experience establishing, building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience dealing with urgent and sensitive information which may have an impact on stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing reports and formal documentation.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Experience interpreting and applying acts and regulations.
  • Experience regarding Road Transportation or Law Enforcement.
  • Experience with Auditing and Compliance.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who speak fluent Mandarin.

**Please note: To be considered for this position you must provide a Personal Driving Record and a Commercial Driving Record (N-Print) which (within the last 5 years) is/has:

  • No driving suspensions
  • No more than 9 points total
  • No more than 8 accumulative offences including zero-point offences
  • Recent and dated within 30 days of application

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Due to the specific nature of the work, the following must be held and maintained [Provided by Passenger Transportation Branch upon Employment]:

  • Provincial Peace Officer Status.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course.
  • Total Control Driving Course.
  • Commercial Transport Inspector Mobile Training Course.
  • Justice Institute of B.C. Investigative and Enforcement Skills Certificate Program core courses.
