Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative leader to support regional project implementation initiatives in the role of Coordinator, Project Implementation. While in this role, you will engage with all levels of management, staff, and program physicians, to ensure the timely, efficient and quality implementation of project initiatives in the Mental Health and Addictions Program and foster the development of strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and continuation of projects and initiatives.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with a Clinical or Business Degree. Candidate must also have or be willing to obtain a Project Management Professional Designation (PMP). A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a mental health care and addictions environment with a minimum of three (3) years' experience managing/leading projects across the full development and deployment lifecycles.

KEY FUNCTION:

Support regional project implementation initiatives. Engage with all levels of management, staff, and program physicians, to ensure the timely, efficient and quality implementation of project initiatives in the Mental Health and Addictions Program. Foster the development of strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and continuation of projects and initiatives.

REPORTING:

Under the general direction of the Regional Project Manager, Mental Health and Addictions.

DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with the Mental Health and Addictions Program (MHAP) leadership team in the development, implementation, and finalization of new regional programs.
  • Collaborate with implementation specialists from other health care facilities/agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with HSN Information Technology personnel.
  • Advocate for the adoption of electronic referral, measurement based care tools, and analytic software systems.
  • Participate in project business development activities (e.g., project scope, budget, charter and resources planning).
  • Liaise with government agencies to further project objectives as required.
  • Lead the development of strong relationships with community mental health service providers to create efficient e-referral pathways.
  • Assist in the creation of proposals in response to requests with supporting business cases.
  • Assist in the development/execution of project plans; ensure accurate and appropriate deliverables, and milestones.
  • Complete/document process mapping, pathway development, and communications exercises.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to develop accurate data collection and migration practices.
  • Support the overall implementation stepped care services delivery models.
  • Apply change management, quality improvement, and project management principles and practices.
  • Travel within province to build relationships as required; explore established processes and e-system possibilities.
  • Complete assigned program and regional initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate linkages between internal services and community partners.
  • Participate in communication and engagement strategies for current regional initiatives (e.g. Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP)).
  • Participate in current regional initiative implementation teams /tables (e.g. OSP/Central Access/Data Implementation Teams).
  • Participate in the development of various health equity initiatives (e.g. Centre of Excellence workgroup tables and people with lived experience tables).
  • Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/organizations/community groups to achieve program objectives, integrate and link services and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
  • Participate in the accreditation process and work to ensure that the program and HSN achieve, maintain and continually improve upon their accredited status.
  • Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
  • Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent.
  • Clinical degree or Business Degree is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional Designation (PMP) or willingness to complete.
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a mental health care and addictions environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience managing/leading projects across the full development and deployment lifecycles.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience in change management, project management, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of system navigation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act, Privacy legislation, Informed Consent and associated legal issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary relationships among local, regional and provincial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability within electronic system tools and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify problem areas, plan improvements and measure success for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with health care providers and employees.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of management, hospital committee structure, conflict management and resolution, system needs analysis and organizational assessment.
  • Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize as required.
  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
